i somewhat knew there was something special about twiluna i had normally shipped these two.But this brought a hole new meaning that this might have a slight chance on becoming cannon.plus trinson comment is starting to make sense.And well twilight is closer to night anyways so luna and twilight could possibly being related

I could see Twilight being related in some way to Luna, her canon mother also had stars for her cutie mark.

So did she pull a Justice League Unlimited "Epilogue" on us?

I'm okay with this headcanon.

That is what's great about being a fan of a show like this. The possibilities for expansive stories to create all to possible and impossible realities, is the best.

Who is to say that Luna really isn't Twilight's Mother? Well I guess the time line would be, but still. If you are creative enough. It is possible to create a story that incorporates enough plausible evidence that would support your idea.

2 thoughts on how it could work.

1. Time Travel! We know spells on time travel exist in their world. Even though Twi only knows of one that lasts for a very short time. There may have been others that lasted longer or were permanent. There are several possibilities on this one, but number 2 is my preferred path.

2. Luna and the Watchman! Luna may have been imprisoned but she was never alone. She had guards to watch over her. There were many times on the moon were she was herself and not controlled by the darkness. During these times she reflected and repented. Even worse she felt alone. Till one day a new Guardian was sent to watch over her. A strong young unicorn stallion. It was rocky at first. He would see the best and worse of her. Though being imprisoned you have time. Time was all that was needed for her to get to know him, to love him. Even though it was forbidden. He gave in to his desires.

A pregnancy is very hard to hide when your in prison. With only one male around. It was easy to discover the truth. The stallion was removed from his post and stripped of all his status and ranking. Though instead of being locked away for his actions. Celestia gave him a post close to her within the kingdom. As months passed, the child was born. Luna named her Twilight. A week passed before Celestia came. Luna knew what was going to happen. She did not want it to, but she knew this was no place for a child. So she gave up Twilight to Celestia.

Celestia loved her sister so dearly. So much so that she used a powerful spell to alter her memory so that she never knew who Twilight really was. Returning to the kingdom she gave Twilight to her father. She arranged for a young unicorn mare to be wed to Twilight's father. An agreement was made that Twilight would grow up to believe this mare was her mother. Her father would never speak of the truth. Celestia used her powers to suppress Twilight's Alicorn powers removing her wings and leaving her a unicorn. And so Twilight's life began. Celestia did not know that the path Twi would choose would lead her to Free her real mother from the dark curse or that her powers, even though limited, were so strong.

So after many adventures and proving herself worthy. Celestia released Twi's locked powers and wings. Causing Twi to also later, after all the celebration was over. After her friends returned to Ponyville. After all that she would suddenly remember who her real mother was and they would be re-united again.


And that is what you did to me. You made my mind create stuff.

I like to think that the picture is of one of Luna's last moments of being herself. She hold her baby Twilight one last time before Celestia steps in to take her away. Thank you for such a great picture.
